Two-Twisted-Warp Leno

Two-Twisted-Warp Leno is the most fundamental and classic structure among gauze fabrics. It consists of two warp yarns twisting around a single weft yarn to form stable, diamond-shaped, or oval perforations. This weave is lightweight and airy, featuring microscopic "window-pane" openings that provide exceptional breathability. During the Xiangyunsha dyeing process, the Dioscorea cirrosa juice penetrates these twisted structures easily, lending the fabric a distinct structural integrity. It is an ideal choice for summer garments, offering both crispness and a translucent but not see-through aesthetic.

Three-Twisted-Warp Leno

Three-Twisted-Warp Leno takes weaving craftsmanship a step further, utilizing three warp yarns in an alternating twist to create more complex and secure perforated patterns. Compared to Two-Twisted-Warp Leno, its texture is denser with richer three-dimensional variations, and the openings are arranged more decoratively. This structure enhances tensile strength and drape while maintaining breathability.

Four-Twisted-Warp Leno

Four-Twisted-Warp Leno represents the pinnacle of traditional gauze weaving. The precision twisting of four warp yarns creates a dense and stable structure. Its perforations are arranged with extreme regularity, embodying a sense of rigorous, orderly beauty. In Xiangyunsha, Four-End Gauze can withstand a heavier application of pond mud, creating a striking contrast between its deep black texture and the ethereal airiness of the perforations—a perfect manifestation of the "void and solid" wisdom in Eastern aesthetics.

Sangbo Satin

Sangbo Satin is named for its jacquard patterns that resemble rippling water, making it a silk fabric full of dynamic beauty. By varying the float of warp and weft yarns, continuous subtle patterns are woven into the surface, resulting in a high-sheen finish.

Butterfly Satin

Butterfly Satin Xiangyunsha is the result of extensive research and development by the late Master Liang Zhu, a National-Level Inheritor of Tangxian Xiangyunsha, and his team. Its delicate luster shimmers unpredictably in the sunlight, resembling the iridescent scales on a butterfly's wings. The exceptionally delicate patterns are achieved through the use of ultra-fine silk fibers and a high-density weave. The fabric's pattern resolution is five times higher than that of ordinary fabrics, and the edges of the pattern designs feature a seamless gradient effect. It represents the successful revival of traditional craftsmanship through a modern aesthetic, giving Xiangyunsha a lighter, more ethereal, and fashionable appearance.

Plain Satin

Plain Satin Xiangyunsha embraces simplicity, featuring a mirror-smooth surface without any jacquard decoration. This minimalism weave directly presents the textural beauty of Xiangyunsha after dyeing and finishing. On Plain Satin Xiangyunsha, the reddish-brown of Dioscorea cirrosa and the inky tones of river mud merge most thoroughly, forming an even, full, film-like "metallic black" texture. Its low-key yet luxurious style perfectly embodies Xiangyunsha's philosophy of "guarding the darkness," making it a favorite for those who pursue ultimate minimalism and textural integrity.

Crepe Satin

Crepe Satin features one smooth, flat side and one delicately crinkled side, a structure that provides slight elasticity and flexibility. It is more dynamic than standard satin, with a softer, more natural luster. After the traditional Xiangyunsha treatment, the crinkles capture more light and shadow details, giving the surface a deep and varied matte texture. Highly skin-friendly and comfortable to wear, it perfectly illustrates the gentle characteristic of Xiangyunsha becoming "softer with age."

Habotai

Habotai Xianghunsha is the simplest plain-weave Xiangyunsha, with warp and weft interlacing one over and one under to create a dense and durable fabric. It is the most "practical" of all Xiangyunshan fabrics. Due to its tight weave, Habotai Xiangyunsha offers excellent wind resistance and structure after dyeing and finishing. It serves as the foundational and entry-level option among Xiangyunshas, representing the original form of Liang-chou. Among users of Xiangyunshas, it is practically a staple that everyone owns.

Mulberry Silk

This is the most core and orthodox category of Xiangyunsha. Using high-quality mulberry silk as the raw material, this natural fiber derived from the earth has an innate affinity for Dioscorea cirrosa and river mud. The delicate, porous structure of mulberry silk perfectly absorbs the tannins from the juice, undergoing complex biochemical reactions under the sun. The finished product offers a smooth texture, with superb breathability, and over time, the fibers become increasingly resilient yet soft—a true heirloom piece that embodies the "value of time."

Tussah Silk

Tussah silk comes from wild silkworms; its fibers are coarser and tougher than mulberry silk, with a natural brownish tint. Tussah Silk Xiangyunsha presents a unique aesthetic that is primitive and rugged, often featuring natural slubs on the surface. Due to the different fiber structure, it displays a deeper, more restrained hue after dyeing and finishing, with a texture that is crisp and abrasion-resistant. This fabric emanates a sense of wilderness power, making it perfect for projecting a heavy, stable cultural presence.

Stretch Satin

This is an integration of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. By adding 8% spandex to mulberry silk, the ancient Xiangyunsha gains the elasticity and recovery required for modern apparel. This fabric not only solves the issues of tearing or localized deformation common in pure silk but also significantly enhances comfort and fit. While maintaining the traditional deep black texture, Stretch Satin Xiangyunsha better suits the pace of modern life, representing an innovative step in bringing intangible cultural heritage into daily use.

Rapier Loom

Gauze woven on modern rapier looms represents the precise replication of traditional patterns in the industrial age. Rapier looms can efficiently produce fabrics with uniform specifications and stable textures, significantly reducing manual error. Xiangyunsha produced this way features highly consistent perforation sizes and excellent surface flatness, making it suitable for large-scale modern garment production. It is a vital foundation for moving Xiangyunsha from workshop production toward standardization and industrialization.

Semi-manual Shuttle

Semi-manually shuttle weaving on a wood-and-iron loom retains the operational logic of traditional wooden looms, with skilled worker controlling the machine's rhythm. As the shuttle travels between warp yarns, the tension is finely adjusted by the rebounce of wood structures on the machine, imbuing the fabric with a "sense of breath" and human warmth that industrialization cannot replicate. The fabrics weaved by this machine gives 3-dimensional patterns on both sides, with surface textures featuring natural undulations within a unified design. It is the premier choice for those seeking ultimate traditional charm and collectibility—not just a fabric, but the crystallization of a dialogue between craftsman and machine.

Hongyunsha

Hongyunsha is the "intermediate" stage in the Xiangyunsha process and stands as an independent aesthetic category. It has undergone multiple soakings in Dioscorea cirrosa/shuliang juice and sun-exposure but has skipped the "mud-coating" stage, resulting in a rich, ocher-red hue like a sunset. It retains the original botanical aroma and natural texture of the shuliang juice, with a color that is warm and approachable. During washing, Hongyunsha develops a unique faded beauty, symbolizing the gentle marks left by time on the fabric—a quality much loved by the artistic community.

Xiangyunsha (Gambiered Gauze)

This is the standard form with the most complete craftsmanship. One side is primed with reddish-brown Dioscorea cirrosa/shuliang juice, while the other is coated with iron-rich Shunde river mud. Under the hot sun, a chemical reaction occurs, creating the iconic "black face and brown back." Its luster is deep like a vinyl record, shimmering with a "irridescent black" glow. This fabric is breathable, UV-resistant, and durable; it emits a faint earthy fragrance during wear, representing the ultimate combination of natural gifts and human wisdom.

Crackle-Pattern

Crackle patterns are created on Xiangyunsa fabric after dyeing and finishing through a chemical aging process that mimics the natural cracks that form after decades of wear. Although this process significantly shortens the fabric's lifespan, its unique texture and style are highly popular among Europeans and Americans.

Pre-printed

This type of Xiangyunshan first has patterns pre-printed on white fabric using modern digital printing or screen-printing techniques before undergoing traditional dyeing and finishing processes. After subsequent shuliang dyeing and river mud treatment, the pre-printed patterns deepen in color and take on a vintage appearance. This technique creates a transcendent dialogue between printing patterns and traditional textures, liberating Xiangyunsha from the constraints of single-color or jacquared designs. The result is a visual impact reminiscent of ancient paintings—evoking a profound and evocative atmosphere.

Post-printed

The post-printed process involves applying a chemical treatment to Xiangyun silk that has already been dyed and finished. After washing away a significant amount of river mud and shuliang components, the originally brown shuliang-dyed side lightens to a white-gold hue. Subsequently, any pattern can be digitally printed onto this lightened side. This technique opens up greater creative possibilities for Xiangyunsha, allowing it to showcase more vibrant colors and bold artistic vitality.
